Ways to Give

Camp is a life-changing experience. Each summer we have campers and staff who grow in their faith, confidence, and ability to make a difference in this world. YAA is blessed by the unique role we have to lead and influence everyone involved in camp. It is because of an extended family of supporters, like you, who truly believe in the possibilities of this next generation.

Camper Scholarships

The Gallatin Valley is an area with great diversity. Many people in this area enjoy the financial ability to send their child to camp but just as many cannot afford to make this life changing opportunity available to their children. Consider helping a child attend camp by donating the the YAA Campership Program.

Why Give Stocks/Securities?

Federal and State tax laws offer special incentives for gifts of non-cash property, especially property that has appreciated since it was acquired.

How Much is Deductible?

  • These types of gifts to charitable organizations and institutions are deductible from federal income tax returns for those who itemize.
  • The deduction is for the current fair market value of the securities given.
  • The deductible amount includes both what you paid and your gain. So, you may use the amount of the “paper profit” as a tax deduction even though it has never been taxed. This can dramatically reduce the cost of making a charitable gift and/or help increase the amount you can afford to give.

Making the Gift

After having made the decision of which security you would like to give and the total amount of your gift, you should complete the process with the assistance of your investment broker. The method chosen to make your gift will affect the date of transfer for valuation and other purposes.

*Handling End of Year Donations*

The general IRS rule is that a donation is effective when delivered.  This means that a check received by YAA in January of 2017 cannot be deducted in 2016, even if backdated to 2016.  One exception – checks mailed and postmarked by December 31, 2016 are deductible in 2016 even though not received until 2017.  If you have any questions about your statement or other donation issues, please feel free to call us at (406) 763-4727 or email us at
